DESCRIPTION

Are you down for surviving in a world where starving is the least of your problems? If so, Don't Starve: Pocket Edition is the perfect game for you.

Everything — And I mean everything!  You can't trust monsters, bees, mushrooms, spiders, or any living thing, for that matter.

In each new round, you appear in a randomly generated world. Your objective is to save resources and craft items to survive: From hunting for food to farming, anything you can find might be useful in the short term.

You must survive throughout four entire seasons, from Autumn to Spring. Of course, Winter and Summer are the harshest seasons on your character: Get ready to freeze to death or overheat.

But you have come to the right place — You are about to read some survival tips to help you overcome the first weeks. Let's dive into them.

Day 1 is Crucial

Some players overlook the first days, especially day 1. What's the worst that could happen? But the truth is that you need to be smart in order to see day two.

Crafting an axe and a pick axe is vital on this first day. When you get enough logs from chopping trees, you can make (and most importantly, maintain) a temporary campfire pit to avoid freezing.

While you explore the new world, take good note of places you can camp when the night comes.

Use the Map

You will need the map to grasp where you are and where to set your fire pit. What parts of the land have you visited, and which ones are yet to explore?

You can craft a torch to continue exploring at night during the first days. Follow the roads you encounter, as rewards often await on the other side.

While using the map and exploring, avoid dangerous enemies (spider warriors are a big no at this point).

Don't Fight as Much

You will be weak during the first week. You want to escape instead of fighting the monsters. I know you are looking forward to using your axe, but it might not be worth it just yet.

Don't camp near monsters but run away until your enemy gives up. Once you craft a grass suit (armor!), you can begin fighting.

Don't Settle Down Just Yet

It's only natural to settle down and build a permanent camp. But you haven't explored the land enough, and you could be missing out on better spots to hide and prepare your operations base.

Explore, explore, explore. You will be ready to set up a base around day 7. Once you set up your fire pit, consider setting up a science machine. This device allows you to prototype useful items for your journey.

Note that campfires and fire pits are not the same. You can see your fire pit on the map and restart it with fuel in the case of extinction. Campfires are temporary, which is perfect for the first days.

Save Up Resources

I know, this one sounds like a no-brainer, but it can be a game-changer. Do you ignore carrots or berries that lay around? That's a huge mistake.

When you find yourself not so busy, you should search for resources and take them with you, no matter what they are. You never know whether you'll need them in the short or long term.

Autumn is the best season to collect resources and plan your strategy. Don't let it slide away!

How to Survive Winter?

Winter is one of the most dreaded seasons for most players. They happily made it (or did they?) through autumn, only to find out they don't have a good shelter or enough logs to keep them warm. That's why you are about to read some crucial tips to make it through the winter.

First, get yourself warm clothing for your character if you don't want to freeze to death.

Secondly, don't panic. Vegetables, fruits, fish, and trees are not viable options during winter. But that's fine because you stored some — Did you?

Thirdly, visit the Walrus Camps regularly. You can slay MacTusks to obtain items to craft materials. Some days will be full of effort and little to zero compensation: You will return home with useless items. But that's all part of the long game.

Here is a final controversial tip: You can skip days. Sleeping in crafted tents allows you to ignore all your problems and get through the winter by hibernating. But is it worth it? You will starve easier this way, which is exactly what you are not supposed to do, according to the game's name.
